On the 15th September 2016 I had a great time at floristry school learning how to make quick wedding bouquet’s, wedding button hole’s and different flower centrepieces using fresh flowers. I also learnt how to fix broken stems in an emergency and how to maintain flowers so they stay fresh for longer. The course was very interesting and practical and we used a variety of flowers including red roses, salal leaf, leatherleaf, purple statice and gerbera.

Real or artificial flowers?

Now the question is, what are you going to use on your wedding day, fresh flowers or artificial flowers? Although fresh flowers smell lovely and look beautiful, so can artificial flowers these days. A significant number of brides are now using artificial flowers because they are sometimes more cost effective and there seems to be more DIY brides making their own flowers. Artifical wedding flowers are very lightweight, making bouquets much easier to handle and to transport. They don’t need watering and are much more durable. If you want real flowers and your on a budget then it’s a good idea to repurpose your ceremony flowers at the reception.
